North Shore photojournalists reflect on their favourite images from a most unusual year

Staff photographers take stock of 2020 in pictures

In a year defined by numbers – case counts, staying six-feet apart, month-long restrictions – North Shore News staff photographers recorded 2020 in pictures.

With a click of the camera, they captured the moments that mattered.

Whether our photographers were snapping memorial photos in the wake of a tragic plane crash, taking pictures at a graduation ceremony the likes of which had never been seen before, or capturing a snapshot of a lighthouse caretaker set to return to dry land, the above gallery is just a few of our resident shutterbugs’ favourite photos from the past 12 months.

Click here to read our picks for the top News stories of 2020 (spoiler: a lot happened).

And as much as we in the newsroom have a good sense of what the most important stories of the year were, our readers always have a way of proving us wrong. To wit, click here to see what stories were read the most online this year.

And of course, happy new year!
