To blame funding cuts for the high-profile poaching of an 800 Year-old Western red cedar this month is something of a stretch, but the incident nonetheless serves neatly as a metaphor for our government's approach to the environment.

WE hope the 86 B.C. mayors caucusing in Penticton this week in the hopes of negotiating a new deal with senior governments on taxation revenue are successful in marshalling some compelling evidence for innovative solutions.

Dear Editor: Complaints about the quality of care at our hospitals are common; I want to add a positive account of my recent experience at Lions Gate Hospital emergency.
