Dear Editor: Having grown up in a home with a lovely dog for 13 years, I understand the special relationship between a dog owner and a dog. Our dog was my mountain biking, running and hiking buddy for many years.

Dear Editor: While I wholeheartedly agree with efforts to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and taxpayers' costs, I have concerns with the locking green waste bins. Bears are known for their keen sense of smell.

We can say thank you to our provincial government for our hydro rates going up.

On July 15 I attended a very sad City of North Vancouver council meeting. One of the items on the agenda was a motion related to the awarding of the affordable housing space in the Onni project at 13th and Lonsdale.

CN Rail's plan to cut the staff who operate the Second Narrows rail lift bridge and replace them with a system of cameras and remote control by the end of this year is troubling.

THE revelations this week that 'nutritional' research was done on malnourished aboriginal children, without their knowledge or consent, should horrify all Canadians.

Dear Editor: I'm writing in response to the July 7th letter to the editor by Lynn Gordon arguing that we shouldn't put more resources into bike paths. I suggest that Gordon stop and think about cycling and its benefits.

Dear Editor: Your editorial comment (Ahead of the Curve, North Shore News, June 30) that Canada Day is a meaningful recognition of things that make us great is to be lauded.

THIS week we saw a shuffling of the federal cabinet. It was more a game of musical chairs than a real changing of the guard. More newsworthy however, was some of the apparently required reading for new federal ministers.
