Dear editor: Recently I went to Foto City, at 15th and Lonsdale, to get some VHS tapes transferred. I parked by Lions Gate Hospital and walked from there as I saw there was a street closure.

Like every other red-blooded Tim Horton’s totin’ Canadian, I can’t help mulling over the about-time prime time demise of Don Cherry.

Dear editor: My parents, who passed away recently in Penticton, lived for many years in an apartment overlooking Skaha Lake. Their twilight years were plagued by pigeon excrement daily deposited on their balcony.

As we go to press, a total shutdown of the SeaBus and TransLink bus system looms for three days beginning Nov. 27 due to a labour dispute between the Coast Mountain Bus Co. and Unifor. The 2001 strike was bad, but we endured it.

When “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” comes over the loudspeaker, you’d be excused for thinking it was a joke. Of course you know it’s Christmas — you’re reminded of it constantly this time of year. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Dear editor: Following the Remembrance Day service at Cates Park/Whey-ah-Wichen, a small framed photograph – showing six soldiers in camouflage and carrying rifles – had been left at the war memorial with a lit candle beside it.

Many political parties are engaged in navel-gazing assessments of their futures these days, but none more than the federal and provincial Green parties.

It may be reasonable to run for political office on a campaign of Not In My Backyard, but there’s something untoward about an unspoken campaign of Not In Your Backyard, Either.
