Dear editor:
Following the Remembrance Day service at Cates Park/Whey-ah-Wichen, a small framed photograph – showing six soldiers in camouflage and carrying rifles – had been left at the war memorial with a lit candle beside it.
Nothing is known about the identity of the group, or the person who left it at the memorial. However, the lit candle would suggest that this was of strong emotional significance to whomever placed it there.
To honour this personal motivation, and to protect the photo from the winter rains, after some days of deliberation, the photo has been removed and will be placed at the Lynn Valley Legion at 1630 Lynn Valley Rd., North Vancouver. This action was taken purely out of respect, and the photo is available at any time should the person wish to retrieve it.
Thank you for honouring the memorial with this gesture.
Mick Webb
