In the past couple of years, sticker shock around the annual assessment reveal in January has focused on ballooning values of single-family residential. Not so this year.

Dear Editor : Low rental vacancies and the elephant in the room – rent controls. There is a rental crisis in B.C. and our government is tackling the problem by eliminating “loopholes” to try to keep rents down.

With its first budget in sight on the near horizon, the NDP government is about to discover the heavy lifting that comes with being in government.

It’s early January. We’re shaking off the after-effects of holidays, resolving to pick up some better habits, and our property assessments, like our waistlines, continue to grow.

Dear Editor : On Dec. 10, after coming home from a concert at St. Andrews United, I was devastated to find my snowflake brooch was no longer on my jacket. While not valuable, the brooch had great sentimental value as it belonged to my late mother.

The cruel week in between Christmas and the new year is coming to an end. Throughout the Lower Mainland, people are prepping for their New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Hold the cynicism.

Dear Editor : To the anonymous Good Samaritan who, in the afternoon of Nov. 21 in the Capilano Mall parkade, witnessed my vehicle being a victim of a hit and run, I wish to extend a note of sincere thanks and appreciation.
