Jan. 1 marks the beginning of a brand new year, a fresh start, a clean slate, a new chapter.

Dear Editor: I wish to thank Joyce Taylor for the Letter to the Editor, Bike Lift Study an Unnecessary Expense , published on Dec. 20. This type of insight into the activities of the City of North Vancouver council is very much needed.

Dear Editor: I have just received my B.C. Assessment notice. The fact that my assessment has jumped 25 per cent in the last 12 months does not surprise me. A third of the properties on my block have now been replaced with larger homes.

Nothing says get ready for a new year like the annual hit to the pocketbook that clicks over on Jan. 1. That may seem odd, given how constantly we are reminded of our low tax rates by politicians.

Dear Editor: Monday, Dec. 21 was one nightmare for a transit rider. I boarded the #228 bus to Lynn Valley at the SeaBus terminal around 3:40 p.m. The bus didn’t leave the terminal until 4:05 p.m.

Dear Editor: Brilliant editorial: Stuck in Neutral , Friday, Dec. 18. You nailed everything perfectly. It is a wonder that the B.C. Liberals were re-elected in 2013 after the many scandals and the HST fiasco.

Dear Editor: Over the last week the section of Highway 1 on the North Shore has been hit with seemingly daily traffic interruptions on or approaching the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge (Second Narrows crossing).

This Christmas season I learned a valuable life lesson about the true spirit of giving, love and happiness.

The North Shore is blessed with some incredible service and volunteer organizations. But we can’t think of any so selfless as North Shore Rescue.

Dear Editor: We hear so much today about being tolerant and welcoming to newcomers to our country.
