FIVE members of the North Shore's Capilano Weightlifting Club scored medals at the British Columbia Junior Weightlifting Championships held last moth at the Lions Weightlifting Club in Surrey.
Ryan Lan (69-kilogram class), Caleb Lee (94 kg) and Jacob Cartwright (85 kg) all scored gold medals while Jack Rainer (77 kg) took home silver and Peter Quelch (62 kg) scored bronze.
Cartwright, a member of the provincial junior team, was named the event's top lifter despite competing above his normal 77-kg weight class for the first time. He and Lan, both 16, qualified for the B.C. senior championships and Olympic qualifier scheduled for Dec. 17 at West Vancouver's Gleneagles Community Centre.
