Self-interest (aka money) rules. The real estate industry expertly knows how to twist the monster home issue: Divide the neighbours. There’s no end of chat about prospective monster home property buyers.

The province has dragged its feet long enough on bringing in some reasonable limits on municipal campaign donations and spending.

Dear Editor: Re: Budget Bore , Feb. 18 Viewpoint. I was disappointed to read your editorial on balanced budget 2015.

Dear Editor: We’re now in February, 2015, yet I see so many vehicles driving around displaying decals for various months of 2014. Just over two weeks ago I saw a truck displaying a decal for October 2013.

Much like their assessments, West Vancouver houses have been getting bigger for decades. Some of the large homes are beautiful and others are ugly enough to scare the grass off the lawn.

We won’t say the people decrying the proposed drug and alcohol recovery house on Windridge Drive are bad neighbours, only that they are scared and in some cases terribly misguided.

As I get older I’m continually dumbfounded by the fun things my own body won’t let me do anymore. It’s almost as if it doesn’t want me to die a horrible, wheezy, bloated death by the time I turn 50.
