Besides the changing leaves, nothing quite signals the oncoming fall federal election like the sprouting of that election tradition: the all-candidates’ debate.

Dear editor: Re: Local-Traffic Only Designations Keep Families Safe, Sept. 11 Mailbox. Surely the author jests when it states that after 3 p.m. cars race through Edgemont Village.

I live in a leafy neighbourhood on the North Shore, a stone’s throw from the Capilano River.

What stops you from hopping on your bike to go shopping for that quart of milk, or to pick up books at the library (you do read don’t you?), or attend your ukulele lesson? Typical reasons include distance and the ability to carry stuff.

Like a peacock’s strut, West Vancouver is as beautiful as it is baffling. It’s old and new, small and sprawling, rich in assets and poor in maintenance funds.

Dear editor: I am writing because the story about the Business owner sips sealant may lead other people to try a similar demonstration without the technical knowledge about the product being tried that could have grave consequences.

Two days before what we hope is a historic climate change rally, we are braced for the sneers. Cynics will attempt to dismiss the Global Climate Strike as the whinging of the inexperienced and entitled.

Dear editor: I am a North Vancouver constituent and will vote in the upcoming federal election. The most important issue for me is the climate crisis.

What’s the issue? In addition to the prime minister’s apparent past adoration for costume parties, Canadians are concerned with a number of important topics this election cycle.
