Dear editor:

Re: Local-Traffic Only Designations Keep Families Safe, Sept. 11 Mailbox.

Surely the author jests when it states that after 3 p.m. cars race through Edgemont Village.

I frequently walk or drive through the village and confidently state that during rush hour – where many parents are driving their kids from school – no one can go fast in the village due to congestion.

Maybe at Edgemont and Ridgewood – where there is now a light instead of the four-way stop – there may be vehicles moving more quickly, but I have never seen them speeding.

Edgemont Village falls on major transportation routes and brings business to the village. Making the area for local traffic only would negatively impact its viability.

Now, if we talked about speeding at 3 a.m. – that may be a different story!
