Dear editor: There was an interesting juxtaposition of opinions on page A9 of the Dec. 20 issue.

It’s 2020! Arguably, that’s not as meaningful as the turnover from 1999 to the Millennium, but for those who are into symbols, 2020 packs plenty of portent.

To the surprise of no one, the assessed values of residential properties continues to drop on the North Shore, with the most drastic changes at the high end of the market.

In a bid to reduce our opinion footprint, we begin 2020 by recycling a couple of pleas from 2019. First, it’s time for the City of North Vancouver to approve a new Harry Jerome rec centre. For real. No take-backs this time.

At the time of publishing this editorial, North Shore Rescue members have been called out 105 times so far this year taking up more than 5,000 hours of volunteers’ time.

Dear editor: The West Coast Modern League is deeply concerned about the imminent loss of the 1962 Forrest–Baker House , designed by architects Ron Thom and Dick Mann.

Gadzooks we’re only four days away from the end of the decade. The decade! How will we remember the 2010s when we look back in 50 years? One great way to chart change is to follow the evolution of language.

Dear editor, I am an owner living in the Shipyards District in the City of North Vancouver. Due to the fact that the city is not enforcing its off leash bylaw we are subjected to a daily barrage of dog feces.
