Dear Editor: Re: West Van Floats Non-resident Tax Plan , Oct. 7 front-page story. District of West Vancouver council is really on to something. Their target is people who use real estate as an investment.

For all the noise and drama that regularly engulfs our provincial political scene, it’s worth remembering that when British Columbians actually go to the polls we display a remarkable consistency when it comes to the actual outcome of elections.

We regret to inform you that Stephen Sondheim’s instructions were wrong: do not send in the clowns. At least not those creepy ones, because when they start tearing around, some of us can’t move.

This week we learned properties listed for more than $5 million in West Vancouver aren’t selling like the hotcakes they were six months ago. Bring out the smelling salts.

Does local journalism matter? You bet it does. Community newspapers employ thousands of journalists, in every corner, across our community and across our great country.

Dear Editor: Re: Three More Bears Dead in Blueridge , Sept. 28 news story. It is very disheartening and disturbing to read about these actions recently undertaken by conservation officers. I live in Blueridge, I have seen the bears in question.

Well, here’s something on this Thanksgiving weekend to be thankful about. Possibly. Countless stories – perhaps all feeding off the same misinformation? – have reported that middle-class incomes have been almost static for 20, 30, even 40 years.

Climate change is fast and federal governments are slow. Between approving an LNG plant and ratifying the Paris climate change accord, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau rolled out a carbon tax.

Dear Editor: Re: Is the Science Clear on Climate Change? (Sept. 28 web poll). I found the wording of the Yes or No options to be very one sided and impossible to answer.

Dear Editor: You might as well take the “Grand” out of the Boulevard, just name it Boulevard. What an eyesore now, when I drive it every day, and seeing, on both sides, this black asphalt snake, from Keith Road to 19th Street.
