Earlier this week a North Vancouver man was handed a 14-year jail sentence for dealing fentanyl, the deadly opioid that in 2016 claimed almost 1,000 lives in B.C. alone.

Dear Editor: If the West Vancouver council votes to follow a staff recommendation next Monday, Feb. 6, they will force the Ambleside Farmers’ Market to move locations before public engagement and outreach.

I’m a peaceful man, I hate to see people mad at each other. That’s why I got so upset when I saw that there was friction down south between the White House and the reporters tasked with covering the president and his team.

Perhaps Aesop’s most famous fable is the tale of the ant and the grasshopper. The grasshopper suffers come winter because, unlike the ants, he failed to prepare. When it comes to snow removal, we’re the grasshopper.

Dear Editor: I would like to express my concern over the consistent vitriol and repeated insults Trevor Lautens’ hurls at “spandex speeding” cyclists (most recently, his Jan. 27 column).

One circus closes down after 146 years; another, more sinister, is spawned to take its place. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will perform one last time in Uniondale, N.Y. on May 21, and that’s it. The Greatest Show on Earth is no more.

A promise is a promise – except when it’s not. The federal Liberals have reneged on their crystal clear pledge that 2015’s would be “the last federal election conducted under the first-past-the-post voting system.

Dear Editor: Thank you to the gentleman who helped me on Jan. 10 after I took a nasty fall on the sidewalk of East 12th and St. Georges. I knew it was not going to end well; I sustained a fractured upper arm.

Dear Editor: Vancouver housing bubble burst? I wonder. . . While living in Toronto some years ago, I recall seeing a land/housing comparison chart of four Canadian cities and the surrounding areas: Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.

Dear Editor: We need to call the fentanyl crisis what it truly is. We have all lost someone to fentanyl, it seems, or know a grieving family who has lost someone.
