World Cup bronze for Ricker

WEST Vancouver native Maëlle Ricker ended her 2012-13 World Cup snowboard cross season with one final podium finish, earning bronze at the final stop on the tour March 21 in Sierra Nevada, Spain.

WEST Vancouver native Maëlle Ricker ended her 2012-13 World Cup snowboard cross season with one final podium finish, earning bronze at the final stop on the tour March 21 in Sierra Nevada, Spain.

Ricker's Canadian teammate Dominique Maltais won Thursday's race, capping a dominant season that saw her earn the Crystal Globe as the top World Cup racer of the year. France's Nelly Moenne Loccoz placed second in Sierra Nevada.

Ricker, the 2010 Olympic gold medalist and 2013 FIS World Champion, finished fourth overall in the World Cup Crystal Globe standings, racking up three podium finishes in seven races.

The Canadian snowboard cross national championships will be held this weekend at Big White Ski Resort, wrapping up the competitive season. The Olympic are also fast approaching now with less then one year to go before the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia.
