Young North Shore golfers were signing low score cards at provincials this year.
In particular, star striker Grace Yao of Collingwood School took the individual title at the BC School Sports 2025 AA Golf Championship at Big Sky Golf Club, June 2-4.
Meanwhile Mulgrave School won its first-ever team banner at the event.
Fellow West Vancouver high school Rockridge Secondary hosted the tournament and placed eighth overall.
Yao, a Grade 12 student, had the second-lowest score of both genders, finishing at even par after two rounds of play (71, 73). She also hit a monster shot to claim the Long Drive award.
Her Collingwood team came in fourth overall, just one stroke behind third-place Crofton House.
This fall, Yao will join the golf team at UBC.
After ending the first day in second place by a single stroke, the Mulgrave Titans surged in the final round to take the championship title.
Leading the effort was Grade 11 student Eric Niu, who, after shooting 77 the first day, rebounded with an impressive three-under-par 69 on day two. That gave Niu the third-lowest score among all the players for a two-day total of two-over par.
Niu also won the boy’s Longest Drive contest.
Titan teammate Riley Moore (Grade 10) was tied for seventh overall with a two-day score of plus-eight (76, 76).
Also on the winning team was Ilia Khademi (Grade 10) – who won Closest to the Pin – as well as Lucas Lin (Grade 10) and Qaim Burgener (Grade 10).
The Titans handled the pressure well and stuck to their game, said Phil Collins, Mulgrave golf coach.
“They supported one another and stayed positive throughout. Everyone contributed, and it was a true team effort from start to finish,” he said.
Provincials capped off a dominant season for the Titans, who also won the North Shore Championships by 14 strokes and the Sea to Sky Zone AA golf banner by 17 strokes.
