WINDSOR secondary's gymnastics team nailed it at the provincial championships held March 7-9 in Powell River, vaulting over the competition to win the boys, girls and combined team titles.
Windsor boasted a strong team of 25 athletes from Grade 8 to Grade 12 - some elite gymnasts and some total beginners - who honed their skills with three practices a week starting in November. The Dukes also hosted several meets throughout the season, including the North Shore championships last month where they claimed the girls and overall team titles.
At the provincial championships the team was led by a trio of boys who scored all-around podium finishes in their levels. Justin Tan finished first in the boys Level 1 (lowest) all-around competition, Braeden Massullo finished third in Level 2 all-around and Greg Burns placed second in the Level 4 competition.
Other all-around standouts from the North Shore included Argyle's Austin Studer who finished first in the girls Level 3 all-around, Seycove's Kendra Kerr who won silver in girls Level 4, Argyle's Matteus Odegard who placed second in boys Level 1 all-around and Seycove's Gabe Stanton who won gold in boys Level 2 all-around.
In addition to winning all three overall team titles, the Dukes also took home the Level 1 boys trophy. Argyle also had a strong team showing, winning the Level 3 girls and Level 3 boys trophies.
