NORTH Vancouver's Riley Seger sliced down Panorama Mountain earlier this month and landed on top of the podium.
Seger, 16, ruled the slopes over the four-day competition, eventually being named men's overall champion in the U16 Can-Am Western Championships.
The Whistler Mountain Ski Club prodigy competed against slope-hopefuls from Canada and the United States down Panorama Mountain Village's slalom, giant slalom, and super-G.
Seger outpaced his fellow two-plankers in both the giant slalom and the super-G championships, despite facing the hot pursuit of mountain regular Keegan Sharp.
Sharp, a member of Team Panorama, took second place in both the giant slalom and the super-G, finishing less than one second behind Seger in the giant slalom and nine hundredths of a second behind the champ in the super-G.
"It's a great transitional race and a good opportunity to get a taste of the next level of racing," said Alpine Canada manager of athlete development Nigel Cooper in a press release. "Arguably we saw some World Cup turns this weekend. Not every turn and not from every kid, but I think the front of the pack is very strong."
It was the second straight year members of Whistler's ski club claimed the overall men's title. The Alpine Canadian Championships are slated for March 21-27 in Whistler.
