IF you know someone who stood out in 2012 it's time to let your voice be heard - nominations are now open for the North Shore Sport Awards.
The annual celebration recognizes sport achievements at all levels, from grassroots community organizations all the way to the biggest stages the world of sport has to offer. Award categories include youth and open male and female athletes of the year, masters athlete, coach, official, community sport volunteer, comeback award, team, special Olympian and fair play. The 13th annual awards show will be held Tuesday, March 12 at 7: 30 p.m. at Park Royal Shopping Centre's north mall.
All nominees must have a strong connection to the North Shore either through birth, residency or sporting activity and all should be considered amateur by the definition of their national or provincial sport organization. Awards will be based on performances occurring during the 2012 calendar year. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 1 and can be made online at northvanrec. com/sport-awards.
