NORTH Vancouver's Michelle Errico of the Capilano University women's basketball team was named the Pacwest player of the week for her strong play in a pair of big wins for the Blues last weekend.
On Friday, Jan. 25 Errico hit five three pointers on her way to a 22-point night in a 7461 win over Langara College. The Argyle secondary grad also dished out five assists and added two steals in 27 minutes of play. The following night Errico racked up 12 points, three steals and a season-high seven rebounds in 35 minutes of play in a 63-49 win over Douglas College.
"Michelle has become one of the best guards in our league," said Capilano coach Ramin Sadaghiani in a release. "She sees the court well and is one of the most dangerous three-point shooters in the Pacwest. She has strong leadership skills and a great work ethic."
The game against Douglas was a showdown of the top two teams in the Pacwest league with Capilano solidifying top spot, moving to 13-2 with the win. Douglas dropped to 10-5 to sit in a tie with Vancouver Island University for second place heading into this weekend's games.
The Blues are on the road this weekend for games against Kwantlen and Columbia Bible College and will return to the Capilano Sportsplex for their final home games next Friday against Camosun and Saturday against VIU. Game times are 6 p.m. women, 8 p.m. men on Friday, Feb. 8 and 1 p.m. women, 3 p.m. men on Saturday, Feb. 9.
