Chance for Pack to clinch third place in big showdown tonight

THE North Van Wolf Pack has a chance to wrap up third place in the Pacific Junior Hockey League's Tom Shaw Conference when they host the North Delta Devils tonight at Harry Jerome Arena.

THE North Van Wolf Pack has a chance to wrap up third place in the Pacific Junior Hockey League's Tom Shaw Conference when they host the North Delta Devils tonight at Harry Jerome Arena.

The Pack were well back of the Devils after dropping their first three games of 2013 but since then they've gone 8-1, including wins in their last six games, to finish the regular season on a high. North Van now sits three points ahead of the Devils with two games left for each team. A win tonight would give the Pack third place and set up a playoff series against the second-place Delta Ice Hawks.

The Wolf Pack, currently 23-17-1-1, have already set a club record for wins in a season and have clinched a playoff spot for the second straight season. The Pack picked up an important point over North Delta on the road Friday when they beat the Devils 4-3 in double overtime. Spencer Quon, the game's first star, scored the game-winning goal during three-on-three play in the second overtime period with assists going to Marcus Houck and Quin Buckellew. Quon ended up with a goal and an assist on the night, adding to his team-leading point total. He added one more assist in a 6-3 win for the Wolf Pack Saturday night over the Port Moody Panthers and now has 65 points in 42 games, one point behind Delta's Mak Barden for the league lead in points. Houck, meanwhile, is tied for third in the league with 57 points in 39 games while Buckellew is seventh with 52 points in 36 games.

The Wolf Pack host the Devils tonight at 7: 30 p.m. at Harry Jerome. The team's final game of the regular season will be played Saturday night, 7 p.m. against Delta at Harry Jerome.
