Police have arrested a Sentinel secondary student they say was behind a pair of threats that forced the evacuation of the school twice last month.

The unidentified teen was taken into custody on Saturday following an investigation of the Nov. 25 and Nov. 29 incidents. He has since been released on a promise to appear in court.

On both occasions, an evacuation was triggered when administrators at the West Vancouver school received a call suggesting staff and students were in danger. Police descended on the campus, sealing off the facility and searching it with dog teams while students and staff waited outside. On each occasion, it took about two and a half hours to establish the warning had been false.

Investigators have not released the content of the threat or what charges the youth will be facing.

The news comes just a week after two North Vancouver teens appeared in court on charges of mischief and conveying false messages for allegedly triggering a similar scare at Handsworth secondary last spring
