New bike restores faith

Dear Editor:

After you published our letter about our son Malik's stolen bike (Beloved Bike Lost to a Thief, Aug. 22, North Shore News), we received your email informing us that a gentleman had offered to give him a new one.

This weekend, we called him and went to pick it up. Although Malik's original bike was not returned, he did get to ride with his little brother and his friends all weekend long.

Few newspapers print positive news; that is why I am pleased to write to you with this story of a community coming together to put a big smile on a young boy's face.

I have to say that none of this would have happened without the attention from the North

Shore News and the consideration of this kind citizen. Thank you so much Victor, and thank you North Shore News for the wonderful gift we have received.

The world needs things like this to happen every day. Share kindness and love wherever you are and in all that you do. It costs nothing yet can change everything.

Whoever has Malik's bike I hope their child is happy and enjoying it.

Mark Smith North Vancouver

PS: When I asked Malik where he was going to park his bike, he told me that he would be leaving it in the back from now on.
