More employees at major grocery stores across B.C. have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) in recent days, including in Metro Vancouver.

Stores with affected employees are located in both the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions, including in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Richmond, and Pitt Meadows.

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, and other local chains, provided updates to its COVID-19 employee case listings on April 8 indicating cases at the following store locations in the Metro Vancouver region:

  • Real Canadian Superstore, 333 Seymour Blvd, North Vancouver: The last day any of the 4 infected team members worked was on March 25, March 27 and April 1.
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 19800 Lougheed Hwy, Pitt Meadows: The last day either of the 2 infected team members worked was on March 27 and April 5.

On April 7, Loblaw indicated three workers at its Real Canadian Superstore at 32136 Lougheed Highway in the Fraser Valley community of Mission had tested positive. The last day any of the three infected team members worked was on March 27 and April 4.

While T&T Supermarket is owned by Loblaw, the Canadian Asian grocery chain lists its COVID-19 cases separately on its own site. Though the company had passed several days without any new cases among its staff, T&T indicated a new case this week:

  • Osaka-Park Royal Store - 2200 Park Royal South (Upper Level), West Vancouver: Part-time associate last worked April 3.

Sobeys, Inc, the parent company of Safeway, Thrifty Foods, and franchisor of discount grocery chain FreshCo, indicated this week on its case tracker that an employee working at one of its Metro Vancouver stores has tested positive for the virus. The affected store is as follows:

  • FreshCo - 100-10151 No. 3 Road Richmond: The last day the franchise store employee worked was April 2.

None of the above-listed grocery stores are considered coronavirus public exposure sites by Fraser Health or Vancouver Coastal Health.
