The trees are coming out so the highway infrastructure can move in. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is warning residents that contractors will begin clearing trees on the south side of Highway 1 between the old Mountain Highway overpass and the Lynn Creek Bridge to make way for the new Mountain Highway eastbound onramp.

The work is expected to last from Aug. 6 to 20.

“Night work will be required for clearing and grubbing adjacent to the Highway 1 eastbound lane. Lane closure(s) will be in effect 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. as required,” a statement from the contractor to residents read. “Understanding the impact tree clearing can have on nearby residents, we are making every effort to complete this work as quickly and safely as possible.”
