Update: Gary Ander is Bowen's mayor elect after a ballot recount Tuesday morning.

The District of North Vancouver is warning residents about a possible scam involving someone who has called residents wanting to make an appointment to gain access to homes to “test their tap water.

In the closest mayoral race the island’s ever seen, decided by a matter of two votes, Bowen has elected Gary Ander as mayor. Melanie Mason and Ander were neck and neck for most of the evening, with Mason for the most part leading, until the very end.

Pieter Dorsman is the only current trustee not to be re-elected while Lynne Block is a new trustee.

With 10 out of 10 polls reporting in the City of North Vancouver there are two returning trustees – Christie Sacre and Megan Higgins. They will be joined on the board of education by Mary Tasi Baker.

City of North Vancouver voters have selected Linda Buchanan to be their next mayor. Buchanan will take a seat at the mayor’s chair with 3,800 ballots cast in her favour, or 29.7 per cent of the total vote.
