A one-time evening haunt for jazz and cocktails in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood will have a new identity in 2021 when the address opens as all-day restaurant Juanita.

The Blue Martini closed down earlier this year, but by summer plans were in motion for North Vancouver's popular Lift Breakfast Bakery to revamp the space and put in place a fresh new concept.

Called Juanita, the restaurant at 1516 Yew Street "will be an all-day full-service restaurant bringing guests of the Kitsilano Beach community approachable yet elevated breakfast and lunch, with a dinner menu partly inspired by Chef-Owner Jane Young’s time working at Michelin star restaurants in coastal Spain," according to a job posting for the new venture.

The restaurant, under normal (i.e. non COVID-19) circumstances seats 187 and has a food primary licence.

Lower Lonsdale's Lift, which launched about four years ago, is known for its brunch and lunch menu and housemade pastries and bread. In 2019, the restaurant and bakehouse added dinner service, which has since been suspended. They also operate a production bakery storefront in North Vancouver.

Currently in the hiring stages, Juanita is looking to open its doors toward the end of January. We'll update with more info when it becomes available; you can also follow Juanita on Instagram or Facebook to learn more.
