Less than a week after massive protests flooded the streets of cities across Canada and around the world, North Shore voters will get a chance to hear first-hand thoughts on climate change from our local candidates in the upcoming federal election.

North Vancouver and West Vancouver will both host all-candidate debates Thursday, Oct. 3 as part of 100 Debates, a national initiative to organize inclusive, politically neutral, and environment-focused all-candidates debates in communities across Canada.

The North Vancouver debate will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Presentation House Theatre, 333, Chesterfield Ave., with candidates Justine Bell, George Orr, Jonathan Wilkinson, Andrew Saxton and Azmairnin Jadavji all confirmed to attend.

In West Vancouver the debate will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Ave., featuring candidates from the West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country riding.

Both debates will begin with a series of questions concerning climate change, followed by open question periods.

The 100 Debates initiative was organized by GreenPac, a non-partisan non-profit organization focused on building environmental leadership in Canadian politics.
