Two people who recently visited the West Vancouver Aquatic Centre have tested positive for COVID-19.

Two people who recently went to the West Vancouver Aquatic Centre have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the municipality.

The District of West Vancouver posted the information on its website this week.

The people who tested positive were at the pool on Sept. 9, according to the notice.

Vancouver Coastal Health is said to be following up with close contacts.

According to the district, health protocols in place at recreation centres include sanitizing spaces regularly throughout the day.

While vaccine passports are now required for adult sports and fitness programs at local community centres, the provincial health order has specifically excluded pools and saunas from that requirement.

According to the ministry of health, that’s because “pools and saunas are considered low risk.”

Youth 21 and under taking part in fitness and sports programs are also exempt from the vaccine passport requirement.

The ministry has stated that’s because “We are wanting to support child and youth programs to continue to function without barriers, as these programs are very important for child health and development.”
