Meet the new team of health-oriented orthodontists in Metro Vancouver

With a holistic health-focused approach to orthodontics services, myORTHODONTIST aims to help patients of all ages at their new offices in downtown Vancouver and West Vancouver, with more locations to come in Metro Vancouver

Recognizing the impact of oral health on other areas of one’s overall wellbeing, myORTHODONTIST has built their practice around their holistic health-based approach to orthodontics.

myORTHODONIST was established as a trusted name in Calgary by Dr. Walinder Dhol, a certified orthodontic specialist, who assesses everything from airway and facial muscle function to teeth and jaw structure in his practice.

“A lot of what we do in orthodontics goes beyond giving people a nice smile,” says Dr. Dhol. “It really can impact your oral health in other ways, including jaw joints and breathing issues, hygiene, tooth wear, and tooth loss.”

In April, myORTHODONTIST expanded their practice to B.C. with the opening of their new offices in Downtown and West Vancouver. In addition, they will be taking over operations for a handful of other orthodontic offices across the Lower Mainland this year in Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Surrey, and Langley.

As the clinical director, Dr. Dhol, alongside his team of experienced orthodontists, will be bringing in his health-oriented practices and top-notch patient service to provide orthodontic treatments for people of all ages.

In particular, Dr. Dhol sees great benefit in starting orthodontic treatment for kids no later than age 7.

"Because children have significant facial growth on their side between the ages of 7 and 11, there's a lot we can do now to potentially aid their jaw structure and facial balance growth,” says Dr. Dhol. “Being proactive with early Phase 1 treatment may decrease the need for more complex procedures later on, such as jaw surgery or permanent tooth extraction.”

As partners of Smiles Change Lives, a non-profit organization that provides low-income families with access to braces for children across Canada and the United States, myORTHODONTIST looks forward to providing accessible and affordable treatment to families in communities across Vancouver.

In 2021 alone, the myORTHODONTIST group of practices aim to provide $600,000 of pro-bono treatment for select families with financial barriers.

In addition to offering traditional braces and sports mouthguards, myORTHODONTIST is a proud Invisalign provider. Dr. Dhol has personally treated over 4,500 Invisalign cases to date.

“The clear, customized and removable set of aligner systems are a great tool to not only help straighten teeth, but to address bite issues, develop more room in the mouth for a wider smile, and may lead to some airway improvement,” says Dr. Dhol. “They’re also more visually discreet.”

myORTHODONTIST has adopted digital tools into their practice to introduce new options for orthodontic solutions. Braces and Invisalign treatments paired with virtual care technology can mean fewer visits to the office, which is an added convenience for those with busy schedules.

“We're now able to monitor people's progress from their homes with at-home Dental Monitoring,” adds Dr. Dhol. “Instead of the conventional check-up appointment every four to eight weeks, we can meet with patients weekly through virtual check-ins. This helps us sustain a more regular, closer watch on patients by monitoring their process remotely.”

With a strong commitment to positive patient experiences, the use of technology to elevate that experience, and simple payment plans, myORTHODONTIST aims to provide health-oriented orthodontic care to all in Vancouver.

Full Invisalign or Braces treatment for $99 per month for 50 months is now available through myORTHODONTIST. Some conditions apply.
