Water views and lush forests are clearly a big draw on the North Shore, as listings in Indian Arm remain the most clicked by North Shore home hunters, a new infographic by property website REW reveals.

The relatively small number of properties in Indian Arm saw the North Shore's highest pageviews per listing across the year, said the website.

The neighbourhood that saw the biggest year-over-year price growth, however, was Howe Sound – the median home list price was up 91 per cent year over year.

However, REW pointed out that an increase in median list price doesn’t necessarily mean higher prices in the neighbourhood. In the case of Howe Sound, there were relatively far fewer lower-priced units for sale in the area last year, compared with the year before. The website also noted that drilling down to individual neighbourhoods means smaller sample sizes, which are prone to wider percentage changes.

The most commonly searched home type on the North Shore was a detached house between $1.25 and $1.5 million, reported the website.

Across the whole of the North Shore, REW reported that the median list price for a condo in 2018 was $749K, up nine per cent year over year. For a detached house, it was $2.59 million – exactly the same as in 2017. However, the detached home price per square foot was five per cent from the previous year.
