Dear Editor: Re: Put Enforcement of Outdated Pot Laws on Hold , March 26 Bill Good column. Thank you for sticking up for the Emerys.

There’s been some keen back-and-forth in our newspaper over the past few weeks about the prospect of opening up our North Shore beaches to pooches, particularly in West Vancouver where all the richest dogs and sandiest beaches reside.

Despite their occasional sniping, our three local governments joined forces this week to form a municipal transportation committee to work on joint transportation priorities. It’s about time; and we mean that quite literally.

Open letter to MLA Jane Thornthwaite: Re: Bear forum at Parkgate Community Centre , March 27. Thank you for hosting the discussion last evening with the conservation officers. We think there were some really good discussions.

It’s raining. I could make that statement without looking out the window and 95 per cent of the time, I’d be right. It’s almost impossible to believe, but in little over a month’s time, Metro Vancouver could put water restrictions in place.

Policy is complex. Politics – at least at a fundamental level – is simple. Politicians who are fundamentally open-minded and empathetic make good representatives. Those who aren’t, don’t.

Dear Editor: I just read the Older and Wiser column Report Looks at Prescriptions , Feb. 26. I am a senior. The Fair PharmaCare Plan in B.C. does not cover all prescription drugs.

Dear Editor: Re: Beaches Too Precious for Pooches ?, March 22 Mailbox. I read the letter suggesting that dogs be allowed onto the district’s beaches with great dismay.

Dear Editor: The present-day residents of the North Shore are a long way from our heritage of a formative lumber industry providing vital jobs for our pioneers.
