Dear Editor:

Re: Public City Pathways Are To Be Shared, July 23 Mailbox.

We are continually asking “Why can’t bike riders and pedestrians get along?”

Well, (letter-writer) Jay Kent I would say your attitude is part of the problem and the city is the other part.

Why should bikes be able to use all three paths on Grand Boulevard while pedestrians have to share the one in the middle? This makes no sense and adds to conflicts.

I, too, have lived in North Vancouver for over 50 years and pay taxes. This so-called “greening” of the city is laughable as they lay down more asphalt for the bike riders who ignore these paths and just ride wherever and however they feel like riding anyway. They ride along Third Street, where there is no room and ignore Fourth Street with all the room and no traffic, go figure.

I can count on one hand the number of bikes using all this infrastructure in the nice weather and when the bad weather comes, they get back in their vehicles.
