Re: Another North Shore Owl Falls Prey to Rat Poison, Jan. 15 news story.

I have killed 10 rats with snap traps in the past two years. Accidentally poisoning owls by putting out blood thinners to kill rats has two problems. Firstly, owls are smart and efficient killers of rats, and we should be encouraging them to help us control rat populations. Secondly, rats are smart and learn to avoid feeders that slowly kill their mates.

A snap trap kills quickly and humanely and short circuits the learning process in rat populations. The old Victor snap trap and our friends the owls are the best defence against rats.
