Re: Work Begins on Second Narrows Water Tunnel (Feb. 7 news story).
Given the explosive growth of huge residential developments throughout Metro Vancouver, it should come as no surprise that a new five-metre water tunnel is to be built.
What is a surprise is the apparent lack of planning and development of additional reservoirs to store the over-abundance of rainfall as to supply current and future needs of the region.
Current practice seems to be the implementation of earlier and stricter water consumption regulation and perhaps a reliance on low-flush toilets.
Let’s pray that we’ll have enough water to supply hydrants during our dry seasons for those communities that border or contain forests within their bounds.
I wonder if there’s a political damn-the-dams attitude at play.
