Dear Editor:
I am very disappointed to see the Burnco (sand and gravel) mine proposal moving forward (through environmental assessment review). This site was used to relocate a population of Roosevelt elk many years ago.
To return a habitat for a species and then to remove it makes no sense. The area is also the site of a Fisheries and Oceans Canada habitat restoration project. McNab Creek and its tributaries have been proved to have salmon in them. It seems counter-productive to work on a restoration project and then to decimate it.
Perhaps it is time to evaluate the point of establishing restoration projects if they are only going to be destroyed in the future?
