Dear Editor:
All too often we are accosted by a litany of complaints about our hospital's dearth of beds; shortage of doctors; paucity of nurses; long waiting lists for surgery; inadequate facilities, etc.
Yet despite the glaring deficiencies in staff, funding, space and equipment, our own Lions Gate Hospital functions with astonishing efficiency.
My personal experience in surgery on Feb. 9 could not be improved upon, as was the case in all my previous visits. The staff - nurses, doctors, receptionists - were without exception warm, welcoming, smiling and compassionate. I could not have wished for better treatment if I had been paying exorbitant fees at a private hospital. Many people echo my sentiments.
Hats off to the LGH staff, which not only serves all our needs but also does so with empathy and a caring nature.
