Re: "A Bridge Too Far" (July 21).

LOOKING back on the 2010 Olympics, there was a lot for us to be proud of, like our haul of gold and our remarkably smooth running of the games. But this week, one other thing stands out in hindsight.

A snowtail butterfly? Seriously? (Page A17, July 17) I am frequently surprised at the lack of what I would consider basic knowledge on the part of news editors and writers.

Re: "Plans for unstaffed rail bridge worries port, district officials" (July 17) Are they nuts? I pass through that span frequently throughout the year and require the span to be raised to have clearance for the mast of my sailboat.

Dear Editor: My 18-year-old daughter had a valuable lesson in kindness recently while riding her bike up the road to Mount Seymour. Near the top of the mountain she had a flat tire.

ROYAL Baby X had a Twitter following long before making his arrival. He had a hashtag and a video gone viral before he even had a name. The royal baby was born on the same day as hundreds of thousands of other children.

Dear Editor: Having grown up in a home with a lovely dog for 13 years, I understand the special relationship between a dog owner and a dog. Our dog was my mountain biking, running and hiking buddy for many years.

Dear Editor: While I wholeheartedly agree with efforts to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and taxpayers' costs, I have concerns with the locking green waste bins. Bears are known for their keen sense of smell.

We can say thank you to our provincial government for our hydro rates going up.

On July 15 I attended a very sad City of North Vancouver council meeting. One of the items on the agenda was a motion related to the awarding of the affordable housing space in the Onni project at 13th and Lonsdale.
