Recognize this jewelry? West Van police search for owner

West Vancouver police are hoping to reunite some precious pieces of custom jewelry with their rightful owners after seizing them from suspects in a recent drug bust.

In late September, a West Vancouver Police Department member working with the region’s gang unit pulled over a vehicle at Capilano Road and Marine Drive.

The couple in the car attempted to discard a knife and flee, according to the police, but officers arrested them at the scene.

Inside the car, investigators found 60 grams of individually packaged drugs, suspected to be cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, along with $4,500 in cash and various pieces of suspected stolen property. Among the items: credit cards, a gold watch, and two pendants inlayed with someone’s baby photos.

“This was great proactive work by our officer,” said Const. Kevin Goodmurphy, West Vancouver police spokesman. “Seizing any amount of illicit drugs from the street is a win for us.”

The suspects, a 39-year-old Vancouver man and 21-year-old woman of no fixed address, have since been released pending charges, but Goodmurphy said investigators want to return the stolen items to their rightful owners.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to contact the West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300. To remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or visit
