NORTH Vancouver's Eugene Wong continued his scorching first summer as a professional golfer last weekend, winning the Canadian Tour's Great Waterway Classic held at Smuggler's Glen Golf Course in Gananoque, Ont.

The win was Wong's third in a row following his first pro title won at the Canadian Tour Championship and his win at the Vancouver Golf Tour's Vancouver Open.

Wong defeated two-time Canadian Tour winner Daniel Im by a single stroke after shooting a final round score of six-underpar 65. Wong was particularly hot coming down the stretch, shooting four-under 32 on the back nine and clinching the victory with a birdie on the 16th hole.

With his score of 65, Wong posted his eighth consecutive round of 68 or better on the Canadian Tour. The Handsworth grad turned pro this summer after a very successful career at the University of Oregon.
