The North Shore will be well represented at the BC Soccer Provincial A Cup with seven teams hitting the pitch as the championships get underway Thursday, July 5 in Richmond.

In the mix is one returning provincial champion from last year, the girls U14 West Vancouver Soccer Club Rangers. As U13s, they won their division and brought home the Cup. This year, the team coached by Jackie Steede and Ashley Steede will be going into the competition with last year’s tournament experience to help them, but they will face tough opponents from the Lower Mainland and the Interior. The possible favourite of their division is the Richmond Strikers, who went the regular season without a loss and topped the Rangers in penalty kicks to win the BC Coastal A Cup final.

In total the West Vancouver Soccer Club will be represented by five teams at the tournament. Joining the U14 girls are the Rangers U13 girls, U18 girls, U14 boys, and U18 boys.

The Rangers U18 girls will be looking to finish off their youth careers in style, having already won their Metro league and claimed top spot in the Coastal Cup.

The North Vancouver Football Club and North Shore Girls Soccer Club have one team each attending this weekend’s A Cup. The NVFC U13 Selects will play for gold on the boys side, qualifying for the tournament as the Metro League champions. In the girls side NSGSC will send their U17 team to the provincial championships.
