THE Capilano Blues women's volleyball team came home with bronze medals from the Pacwest championships but just missed out on earning a trip to the national championships.
The Blues opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Douglas Feb. 23 to set up a semifinal against the University of Fraser Valley with the winner going to the final and also securing a berth at nationals. The first two sets were both agonizing 25-23 losses for the Blues. They rebounded to win the third 25-14 but fell 25-20 in the fourth as UFV took the win three sets to one.
On the men's side Capilano made the playoffs for the first time in four years but suffered a quarterfinal defeat, losing 3-1 to Camosun on opening day.
