On Friday July 8th North Vancouvers McCartney Park was the setting for the 2011 BC Provincial Girls Midget C Fastpitch tournament opening ceremonies. A colour guard escorted the teams on to the field.

A colour guard escorted the teams on to the field. Participating squads included the Cordova Bay Crush, the Sooke Cedars, the Nanaimo Cedar Midgets, the Gibsons Crusherz, the Richmond Synergy, the South Surrey White Rock Barracudas, the Chilliwack Spitfires, the Mission Momentum, the Okanagan Mustangs, the Summerland Days Inn Scorch, the Quesnel Kal Tire Teal Tigers, the Coquitlam Rednecks, the Port Moody Magic, the Ladner Legit, the Ladner Red Socks and the host north Shore Avalanche.

Mike Boehm, president of the North Shore Girls Fastpitch Association emceed the event.

Jim Blesheim, President of tournament title sponsor Neptune Terminals was on hand to welcome the attendees.

MLA Jane Thornthwaite and acting North Vancouver District Mayor Roger Bassam threw out the ceremonial first pitches.
