Title time on North Shore

Senior girls finals tonight in AA and AAA leagues

FOUR teams will hit the floor tonight with two titles on the line as the North Shore AAA and AA championship finals are played out at Handsworth and Seycove secondaries.

In AAA, longtime rivals Handsworth and Argyle will battle for the title. Handsworth earned the right to host the final by finishing first in regular season action. The Royals went a perfect 6-0 in league play, including two wins over the Pipers. The last time the teams met, however, the game came down to the wire with Handsworth prevailing 68-67 in a game played Feb. 8 at Argyle. Handsworth then knocked off Sentinel in a semifinal game Monday to book their spot in the final.

As for Argyle, their two losses against Handsworth were the only blemishes on their record in regular season action as the finished 4-2. The Pipers took on Carson Graham in the other semifinal Monday and won handily, 78-25.

The Argyle vs. Handsworth clash will get underway tonight at 7: 30 p.m. at Handsworth.

In AA action, Seycove will host Windsor with the North Shore title on the line.

Seycove spent the year playing in the premier division, testing their mettle against AAA teams Handsworth, Argyle and Carson. The Seyhawks finished 2-4 in the league, their two wins coming against Carson Graham. Seycove is hoping that taking the tougher route through league play will pay off when they come back down to AA for playoffs. Their quest began with a 60-36 semifinal win over Sutherland on Monday.

In the final Seycove will be facing a tough Windsor team that went undefeated in the North Shore's Div. 1, posting a 10-0 record. The Dukes capped off their perfect regular season with a 63-48 win over St. Thomas Aquinas Monday to make tonight's final. The AA championship game gets underway at 6 p.m. at Seycove.
