The North Shore Twins are hotter than the scorching summer sun right now, coming off a championship win in the Langley Blaze Invitational tournament wile also sitting in first place in the B.C. Premier Baseball League.

The Twins scored a 6-3 victory over the host Blaze May 31 in the championship final to win the tough tournament just three days after their legendary head coach John Haar was inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame. The Twins went 6-1 in the tournament despite missing several key players, forcing them to call up several youngsters from their junior team.

"In order to win at this level, you need depth" stated Haar in a release. "Our team was missing some starters on Sunday. A couple of players were sick, some had school commitments and one was on his way back from playing with the Canadian Junior National team. But, our kids pulled through with a solid team effort."

The Twins, who started the season with an extended road trip due to work being done on the home field at Parkgate Park, are about to setlle in for a long homestand starting Tuesday, June 9 when they’ll host the North Delta Blue Jays in a 6:30 p.m. start.
