NORTH Vancouver's Robert Sacre will return home Saturday night as the centerpiece star of the Gonzaga Bulldogs for an NCAA preseason game against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at Rogers Arena.

Sacre, a fifth-year redshirt senior, is Gonzaga's top returning scorer and rebounder from last season and has already established himself as one of the top centres in the country this season.

Sacre notched a doubledouble in each of Gonzaga's two pre-season NCAA games played so far, including 22 points and 10 rebounds in a 77-69 win over Eastern Washington Friday and a statline-stuffing 15-point, 10rebound, three-block and twosteal performance in an 89-81 win over Washington State Monday.

Sacre was recently rated as the seventh best centre in college basketball by rivals. com, a website devoted to college sports. Last season he was named to the AllWest Coast Conference first team. In his Grade 11 year at Handsworth secondary Sacre helped led the Royals to victory at the provincial AAA championships.

The Bulldogs are ranked No. 23 in the country and have won a share of the WCC regular season title for 11 straight seasons. They boast two other Canadians on their roster this season in Kelly Olynyk, a junior forward from Kamloops who is red-shirting this season, and Kevin Pangos, a freshman guard from Newmarket, Ont.

Game time is 6 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Arena.
