NORTH Vancouver's Lana Rockhill was recently named to the CCAA All-Canadian team after her stellar season as captain of the Langara Falcons women's soccer squad.

The striker was Langara's leading scorer and finished third in the Pacwest league with nine goals in 12 games. The third-year general studies student led the young Falcons to a bronze-medal finish at the provincial championships.

"This was a really good season," Rockhill said in a Langara release. "The girls are so great, and I never could have done this without them. The growth the team went through from last year to this year should really be commended, and I hope they know how much I appreciate them all. I couldn't pick a better team to lead. The other girls on the All-Canadian are incredible, and it was an honour to be a part of it."

Rockhill hit the ground running this season, scoring three goals in the first half of the team's first game.

"Lana put the team on her back and really set the tone," said head coach Ryan Birt. "She's very deserving of (the award). She's been with us for three years and has grown in maturity and skill with the team. This year she really excelled both on and off the field. For her to be recognized as an All-Canadian is very fitting, and a tremendous accomplishment for her."

In 2009 Rockhill captained the Handsworth Royals as they won the provincial AAA senior girls high school championship.
