Vancouver's Bo Palmer had a monster game for the Simon Fraser University football team last weekend, helping the Clan to their first Great Northwest Athletic Conference win of the season.
The Windsor secondary grad, an SFU senior, rushed for 145 yards and scored four touchdowns as the Clan topped Dixie State 41-28 Sept. 29 in Burnaby. Palmer found the end zone in each quarter of the game, racking up scoring runs of two yards in the first, 37 yards in the second, 54 yards in the third and a one-yard plunge to cap things off in the fourth.
Palmer needed just 17 rushes to hit his 145yard total, racking up a robust average of 8.5 yards per carry. He also caught for passes for 23 yards as the Clan moved to 1-3 in GNAC league play (2-3 overall). Following the game Palmer was named the Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week for the conference.
"It was really exciting to get the win at home, the atmosphere always pushes us to play our best," Palmer said in an SFU release. "The guys really put their hearts into the game and for me the individual award came from the hard work of a lot of different people.
"Going into this game, we wanted to come out with intensity. All week in practice our offensive line has meshed really well with our running backs and that showed in this game."
Palmer was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats earlier this year but went back to SFU to complete his degree and play out his final year of eligibility. Last year he ran for 1,219 yards with the Clan to set a school record for rushing yards in a season.
