THE Vancouver North West Giants will face the Cariboo Cougars for the third straight year in a three-game series for the championship of the B.C. Major Midget League March 23-25 at the Burnaby Winter Club.

The Giants, a team made up predominantly of North Shore players and coached by North Shore Winter Club hockey director Todd Harkins, swept the Cougars in two games in each of the last two championship finals. The Giants finished first in the MML this season and made it back to the championship round with a 2-1 series win over the Greater Vancouver Canadians last weekend.

The winner of this weekend's series will move on to the Pacific Midget Regional where they will face the champions of the Alberta Midget League with a berth in the Telus Cup national championships on the line.

Last season the Giants defeated the Red Deer Rebels in the Pacific Regional to become the first-ever B.C. MML team to make it to the Telus Cup, where they finished fourth.

The Giants and Cougars will battle Friday starting at 7: 30 p.m., Saturday at 7: 45 p.m. and, if necessary, Sunday at 9: 30 a.m. at the Burnaby Winter Club.
