North Vancouvers Filip Peliwo will get another crack at winning a junior Grand Slam tennis title Sunday when he makes an appearance in the boys final of the French Open.

Peliwo defeated Adam Pavlasek of the Czech Republic in a semifinal matchup Friday, erasing an early deficit to score a 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-0 win. The 18-year-old hit five aces and committed only three unforced errors in the win.

Seeded fifth heading into the tournament, Peliwo will take on sixth seed Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium in the final.

In January Peliwo made the final of the Australian Open junior tournament where he lost to Aussie Luke Saville, the No. 1-ranked junior boy in the world.

Peliwo is the first Canadian to reach two junior Grand Slam finals in one year and the first to reach the final in Roland-Garros since fellow North Vancouverite Philip Bester made the French Open junior final in 2006.
